There are many notable towns and villages within reach of Herbage Park all offering warm and friendly atmosphere with an abundance of quaint places serving fine wines, ales and home cooked food. Colchester and Maldon being two of the finest.
Colchester with it’s castle and zoo is the oldest recorded town in England. Maldon, 5 minutes by car, is equally stooped in history and character. The Quayside, an old Saxon port and it’s park are the perfect place to unwind whilst it’s artisan quarters give this sleepy countryside town an old world charm it rightly deserves.
Nearby villages Ulting and Little Baddow both with meandering rivers, locks and narrow boats provide great days out with boat cruises and wonderful river walks.
The thriving town of Chelmsford, the county town of Essex is just 5 minutes away and offers a huge variety of retail shops and cosmopolitan bars and restaurants. For those seeking a little more adventure London is only 30 minutes from Chelmsford on the mainline railway.
Wildlife
Set in the secluded Essex countryside amongst natural and unspoilt landscape, Herbage Park is a haven for wildlife.
Living in harmony with the lodges and it’s visitors you may see wild rabbits, squirrels, foxes and even native deer that live in the bordering woodlands. We are very proud to have several badger sets on the park, and for your very own wildlife watch you will have 24 hour CCTV coverage beamed straight to your lodge.
Many varieties of wild birds, insects and reptiles are all common to the park and thrive in its haven.
