Blossom Hill Park Lodges are all elevated and overlook a 42 acre woodland. Although the woodland creates a fantastic view for the lodge owners the woodland has not been practical to explore due to the amount of water within it. Inside this ancient woodland are fast running streams and a beautiful unspoilt lake which is sadly full of weeds. We have stocked this lake in the past with fish to eat the weeds but as soon as we get heavy rainfall the lake swells the fish all swim away downstream and escape!
As Blossom Hill is close to the Jurassic Coast and Exmoor we do attract a lot of walkers, dogs and people looking for a central Devon location with which to explore the coast and countryside! We also have a stunning pub/restaurant at the bottom of our 42 acre woodland which has not been accessible via the park (Until Now!!).
So we were keen to make the ancient woodland a huge part of Blossom Hill Park. A woodland that people of all ages could explore, where dogs could be walked, where family’s could have a picnic next to the lake and admire the scenery. We wanted the pathway to lead all the way to a country pub where people could enjoy a Sunday lunch or an evening drink without driving.
So here we are …. the work has begun today!
We are digging a pathway 900 meters long and 2.5 meters wide, past the lake all the way to the edge of the woods. The pathway will be levelled and rolled flat. Water will be piped away from the pathway to keep it dry all year round and stop it from flooding.
The lake will have a sluice gate put in it to stop the fish swimming away and we will re-stock the lake with fish to eat all the weeds. There is an island in the lake where we will build a duck house and build benches around the lake for people to enjoy the wildlife.
This huge investment is going to make the experience of owning on Blossom Hill unsurpassed and we are excited to share it with all our customers. for more information on Blossom Hill or to arrange a visit to the park, call us today on 0845 123 6333.
Keep looking to see how work is progressing!!!
